Dual Diagnosis Treatment Center in Colorado

Understanding Dual Diagnosis: Addressing Co-Occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder

What Is Dual Diagnosis Treatment and Why Is It Essential for Lasting Recovery?

It is not uncommon for substance use disorders to co-exist with mental health disorders, which is when dual diagnosis treatment is important for treatment centers to provide. Dual diagnosis treatment helps clients cope with co-occurring disorders, which are often substance abuse and mental health conditions.

Whether you’re healing from mental illness, addiction, or a combination, Red Rock Recovery Center is here to help you make necessary lifestyle changes for your well-being. We create personalized treatment plans with mental health treatment and addiction treatment options to provide you with a full spectrum of whole-person care.

Specialized Programs for Dual Diagnosis at Red Rock Recovery Center

Inpatient Detox and Residential Programs – The Foundation of Recovery

Drug addiction and alcohol addiction can be uncomfortable. Detox is the first step of recovery, which removes the body’s physical dependency on the substance you’re addicted to. At Red Rock Recovery Center, our medically supervised detox helps you cope with withdrawal symptoms as comfortably as possible so you can focus on healing without distraction.

From there, residential or inpatient treatment is traditionally the next phase of recovery. Here, you stay at our treatment facility and engage with evidence-based and holistic therapies to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Both detox and residential treatment surround you with supportive peers and staff to help you reach your recovery goals in a safe, secure environment. This is the foundation for success in long-term recovery.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Structured Daily Support

PHP is a highly structured extended-care treatment program that ensures you stay on the right track after inpatient treatment. Our program runs for four to eight weeks, depending on your needs, and offers you six hours of clinical care per week.

This flexible PHP includes the holistic approach, evidence-based treatments, individual therapy, group therapy, support groups, family therapy, and all other services to meet your needs. We also offer medication-assisted treatment, which can assist clients dealing with challenging withdrawal symptoms. This treatment program is often helpful for clients overcoming substance abuse, especially opioid addiction. We value comprehensive treatment at all levels of recovery, so no matter what treatment program you’re enrolled in, we are here to support you.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Sober Living in Lakewood, Colorado

Our Colorado-based IOP and Ascent Sober Living Program are structured, community-centered programs that are also part of our extended care program. Both include access to a full range of our services to help you heal from your addiction and/or mental health disorders. If necessary, we will also refer you to other outpatient treatments that better fit your schedule and needs.

In our IOP, you have access to a supportive community and quality care, from evidence-based to holistic treatments and therapies, while still living at home. It is a flexible option for full-time employees and/or parents. Sober living is another option that can last from two to four months and requires you to stay sober while in the program and at our facility. This program helps you transition from Red Rock Recovery Center to your normal routines and/or other long-term care options.

Evidence-Based Therapies for Dual Diagnosis Recovery

Trauma-Informed Care and Healing Past Wounds

Mental health issues are complicated, but recovery does not have to be. Healing from the past is part of the recovery journey, which is why a trauma-informed approach to treatment is important. Trauma-informed care empowers the client in recovery by giving them confidence in themselves and their ability to heal, creating a trustworthy and safe environment to support their healing, and listening to the client to meet their needs most effectively.

This approach helps uncover the underlying causes of your addiction and also helps you understand your bipolar disorder, personality disorder, eating disorder, anxiety disorder, depressive disorder, and other mental health disorders that may inhibit your life. Our trusted staff, with licensed therapists and clinicians, are there to help no matter what you’re healing from.

Individual Counseling and Group Therapy – Building Community and Purpose

Behavioral healthcare, like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), is important in dual diagnosis treatment. At Red Rock Recovery Center, improving your behavioral health is done through individual counseling sessions so you can explore your addiction, mental health, and behaviors on a deeper level. In group therapy, you build a community with others who share similar recovery goals and experiences to grow together, heal together, support one another, and find a new purpose in your newly sober lives.

Exploring Holistic Healing: EMDR, Yoga, and Mindfulness Practices

It is important for our dual diagnosis treatment center in Colorado to go beyond evidence-based practices and introduce clients to healthy coping skills. Integrated treatment opens doors for your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. At Red Rock Recovery Center, we acknowledge that holistic healing can happen in many ways, which is why we offer various therapies for you to accomplish your recovery goals.

Yoga and mindfulness are two practices clients may engage with to invite peace into their lives, intimately explore their inner selves, reduce stress, and improve their mind-body connection. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a psychotherapy that helps you process traumatic experiences, such as upsetting memories, thoughts, and feelings related to your trauma, to relieve you of your post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.
