Packing Disclaimer
Our drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers are located in the Greater Denver area in Colorado. Colorado experiences all the seasons, sometimes all in the same week. The staff at Red Rock Recovery Center highly recommend packing accordingly when preparing to come to treatment. It can be difficult knowing what to take to rehab and what you should leave behind. The following is a list of items is what we suggest you bring. Below we outline what to bring to rehab so you can be fully prepared.
Packing limits: One (1) large suitcase + one (1) carry-on only. Laundry is available on site.( It is advised that the client brings approximately 1-2 weeks worth of clothes when packing for rehab)
What Should I Pack?
What to bring (Required & Recommended)
Clothing (Plan for Layers & Outdoor Use)
Bring 7-10 days of clothing that can be layered. Avoid overpacking.
Required mountain/environment-appropriate items:
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes suitable for snow, ice, and uneven terrain (required)
- Warm socks (wool or thick socks recommended)
- Weather-appropriate outerwear (coat or insulated jacket)
- Sweatshirts, sweaters, or fleeces for layering
- Long pants suitable for outdoor activities
- Sleepwear appropriate for shared living spaces
- Gym or movement clothing (modest and functional)
- Shower shoes or slippers (for indoor use only)
Sandals, slides, and flip-flops are NOT appropriate footwear for outdoor use on a mountain campus and may increase the risk of slips or falls.
Personal Items
- Photo ID and insurance card
- Prescription medications in original pharmacy bottles with intact labels (doctor name, medication name, dosage)
- Personal hygiene products without alcohol (see restrictions below)
- Electric razor, blow dryer, or curling iron
- Personal recovery or spiritual books
Phones & Nicotine
- Cell phones (approved after 72 hours and during designated phone times)
- Approved nicotine products only:
- Disposable or sealed vapes
- Spit-less nicotine pouches
What NOT to bring
For safety, recovery, and medical reasons, the following items are not permitted:
Substances & Food
- Anything containing alcohol or mind-altering substances
- Outside food, snacks, candy, soda, energy drinks, or canned beverages
- Open or unsealed hygiene products
Hygiene & Personal Care (Restricted)
- Colognes, perfumes, or body sprays
- Essential oils
- Any over-the-counter medication not approved by the medical team
- Supplements not approved by the medical team
Clothing & Media
- Revealing or inappropriate clothing
- Clothing promoting alcohol, drugs, or drug culture
- Pornographic or sexually explicit material
- Adult toys
Safety & Electronics
- Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)
- Bladed razors
- Lighters, matches, torches, or flammable fuels
- Computers, tablets, gaming systems, or Bluetooth headphones
Prohibited Items List: (Please review)
- Any item containing: Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol), Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol / Rubbing Alcohol), Methanol (Wood Alcohol) SEE SECTION BELOW
- Ethylene Glycol (Antifreeze), Butanol (Industrial solvents, fuel), or Propylene Glycol
- Any cologne, perfume, or body spray
- Any over the counter medication not approved by the medical team.
- Any supplements not approved by the medical team.
- Pornography and adult toys.
- Weapons of any kind, including pocket knives.
- Tablets, computers, bluetooth headphones or gaming systems.
- Pets or other animals.
- Already opened or unsealed hygiene products
- Essential Oils
- Playing cards
- Open Vapes or E-Cigarettes.
- Cigarettes, Chewing tobacco, lighters, matches or torches
- Hookahs, pipe tobacco.
- Soda, Candy, Energy Drinks, or any canned beverages.
- Outside food of any kind.
- Bladed razors.
- Cash
Alcohol-Free Product Clarification
The following are approved in new/sealed shampoos, conditioners, and soaps:
- Cetyl Alcohol
- Stearyl Alcohol
- Lauryl Alcohol
- Behenyl Alcohol
The following are NOT permitted:
- Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol)
- Isopropanol / Isopropyl Alcohol
- Methanol
- Ethylene Glycol
- Butanol
- Propylene Glycol
Staff has the right to refuse any other personal items not on this list that are not needed or appropriate for this phase of treatment.
