Spirituality can be defined in many ways…
Regardless of how you choose to define spirituality, it is always beneficial to increase your spirituality.
Spirituality can refer to a person’s quest to discover who they are, what their purpose is, and how they connect to the world. Spirituality can refer to an intangible force that helps a person develop, grow, and feel transcendence over things that are physical and of fleeting importance. Spirituality is the health of your spirit. To increase your spirituality, is to increase your overall happiness.
All benefit from working to increase your spirituality, and it can improve the quality of our lives and our relationships. Here are six things you can do to live a more spiritual life.
Meditate for 15 Minutes Daily
The term “meditate” might sound challenging to some, but it doesn’t have to be. Some practice will be sure to increase your spirituality. All you really need to do is sit in a quiet room, close your eyes, and try to silence your thoughts for 15 minutes. With practice, you should be able to relax and focus on only your breathing and your physical body. In those 15 minutes, meditation can help you connect with yourself and find inner peace.
Selflessly Give to Others
When you help another person, it can bring you a great sense of joy just knowing that you made someone else happier. Giving will always increase your spirituality. When you don’t expect anything in return, you’re practicing nothing but kindness. Giving to another person in need can help you feel a greater sense of connection with the world around you, and you can know that you contributed something positive to it.
Connect with Nature
Spend some time outside experiencing nature and recognizing the beauty in the world. Try to find a quiet place on a nice day, and simply observe what’s around you. Really look closely at the trees, plants, or scenery around you, and really listen to the birds chirping, the ocean waves crashing, or the other sounds you can hear. Just breathe, and take in the true wonder of it all.
Stop Judging Yourself
It’s true that we’re our own harshest critics. Some of the things we say to ourselves we’d never say to another person because they’re so hurtful. Make a conscious effort to stop judging yourself. Recognize when you’re criticizing yourself, and try to think of something positive about yourself instead. Your own judgments will negatively affect your spiritual well-being, and will work against you trying to increase your spirituality.
Remain Open-Minded
Shutting out the opinions or ideas of others will not help you grow. It’s important to appreciate the diversity in this world, even if you don’t agree. Actively listen to others, and attempt to learn something from everyone in every interaction you have. It’s more positive for you to respect that people have different beliefs of equal merit rather than waste energy being upset by them. Being open minded to new ideas is sure to help increase your spirituality.
Maintain a Journal
Journaling is a great way to clear your mind, organize your thoughts, and increase your spirituality. Try to dedicate at least 10 minutes every day to journaling. Write whatever’s on your mind, or follow writing prompts that aim to help you explore yourself. For example, make a list of activities that make you happy, things that motivate you, or positive traits you have.
